Market Performance
Mobile network providers in the Netherlands have been constrained for some time due to a lack of C-band spectrum for 5G. Despite this, they have been able to maintain strong performance thanks to the deployment of 5G in other mid-band spectrum holdings. That all changed at the beginning of July with the award of 100 MHz of the highly coveted spectrum to each of the mobile providers. Odido led on 5G performance in 1H 2024, and our preliminary data for July shows that it is ramping up network performance rapidly thanks to its new spectrum holdings, achieving median speeds in excess of 200 Mbps. In the fixed ISP market, fiber provider Caiway continued to lead on performance, edging out rival cable operator Ziggo on median download speed, while leading the market by a wide margin on median upload performance.
